Director Chris Erickson and Wes Moulton represented Valley Assistance Services today.  Chris has held her position for eight years.  Wes has more recently come on board with a background in pharmacy management.
Valley Assistance Services began over 50 years ago as a children’s holiday program.  Today it serves 6,100 people over an area of 1,200 square miles providing programs of community health, social services, and emergency financial assistance.
The organization does benefits advocacy for immediate help with state authored benefits. The Workforce Program has a computer lab for resume writing and online assistance help.  The Nurse Program does patio visits or consulting by phone.
The Holiday Program delivered food and gifts to 126 households last year and will do 175 this year.
Valley Assistance Services partners with the Green Valley Fire Department.
Volunteers provide transportation and make 1,300 friendly calls per month and visit those in need of assistance.  More volunteers are needed.  PPE is provided for all volunteers and staff, and volunteers are reimbursed for mileage.  Supplemental auto insurance is also provided for drivers providing transportation.
Next week’s program speaker will be Dick Pomo to speak about the Blind Golfer Program.
