Club Notes September 24, 2020
Gary Friedman began the meeting with an invocation.  Gary stated that at the inception of Rotary in 1905, fellowship and goodwill were viewed as essential principles in the formation of Rotary.  Steps were taken to ban topics of religious and political discussions.  Paul Harris was quoted as saying “go about your common tasks together, avoid discussions of dissension and your reward will be friendship.”

District Governor Diane-Ventura Goodyear addressed our club.  “Thinking outside of the box” is her mantra.
Diane described a host of programs and activities all designed to use technology to continue the mission and work of Rotary.
Whether it is development of skills, enrollment in the Rotary Leadership Academy, or training for leadership roles in the district, the integration and reliance upon technology and virtual participation has allowed Rotary to remain strong and productive.
Thinking outside the box also encourages Rotary clubs to join forces with other local clubs for fundraising activities.   Thinking outside of the box extends to working with non-Rotary community organizations to maximize community exposure and fundraising activities.
Thinking outside the box of traditional club formation with a goal to expand and grow membership is encouraged to increase club membership.
Strategic meetings are encouraged for clubs to evaluate their goals.
Diane concluded with several reminders:  the importance of public image in the community, financial support and donations to Rotary Foundation and member attendance at the district conference scheduled for June 2021 in Tubac.
