Today Debbie Kenyon provided the club with a very informative talk on Pima County Green Valley Parks.
There are three Pima County Parks in Green Valley.  They are:
  1. Historic Canoa Ranch was acquired in 2001 and consists of 4800 acres.
The focus is on historic preservation while integrating and developing the usage of this land with public events and activities. Restoration of the Manning House on the property is the primary focus at this time.
  1. Canoa Preserves was acquired in 2001 and consists of 53 acres.  It is known as the softball complex with two baseball diamonds in play.  A third diamond is scheduled to open in January.
  2. Canoa Hills Trails was acquired in 2018.  It is a repurposed golf course  consisting of 130 acres of paved walking paths with over five miles in length.  It is identified as an  environmental restoration project.

Friends of Canoa Parks is a volunteer group that works with Pima County to develop, promote and preserve the Canoa Parks through community outreach, education, fundraising and good old-fashioned physical effort.  To learn more about their efforts or to join, go to webite
